On June 19, 2025, the Ridge Avenue United Methodist Church experienced a once-in-a-lifetime natural disaster; the first in its 178-year history on this corner of Upper Roxborough. A mighty windstorm split and brought down our tree. Whether shade for outdoor worship and holiday picnics, a canopy for Live Nativity at Christ-mas or shade for summertime vacation bible school playtime; this tree did it’s job!
Planted in 1932, the tree was dedicated in celebration of General George Washington’s 200th birthday. Since then this mighty oak has served our ministries. While the church has an insurance policy, it’s not going to be enough …

A Roof Repair Fund had already been established by the church in 2022. It has a current value of $10,250. We’ve also received a Metro Grant from the Eastern PA Conference of $5,000. We’ve got a good start, but a long way to go.
Raise the Roof campaign goal is $110,000 to complete all the repairs caused by the fallen tree. So we are asking for your financial gift to be exclusively used to make the repairs and replacements to our 3 building’s roofs and structure, sidewalks, monument sign and fencing. With your kind, generous, tax-deductible gift to the church, we can get it done.
Thank you for giving to our ministry.
